Meet the Tutors

Working on a project of your choosing, with a teacher available to offer as much or as little assistance as you require, each class allows you the opportunity to while away the hours with needle and thread with like-minded people within our beautiful retail space.

Jacquie McIntosh

Having been inspired to make a christening gown after the birth of my first son, I started stitching 37 years ago and never stopped!

My interest quickly spread from smocking to many different forms of embroidery, as well as teaching.

I love working at The Bobbin Tree where I have the privilege of meeting, helping and even teaching so many lovey customers.

There is also the added benefit of being surrounded by so many beautiful projects.

Monique Johnston

My stitching journey started during my early teenage years

in France. I was fascinated with the many tapestries and embroideries I saw as we visited the many castles in the different counties we lived in.

It was not until my late twenties that I started embroidering in earnest. Starting with cross stitch then embroidery and smocking, I was then offered a job at Inspirations teaching and working in the retail shop.

I have been very fortunate to learn and refine my skills from the various designers and embroiderers I have come in contact with over the years.

My love of needlework has not waned  over the last 35 years and I consider it a privilege to pass on my knowledge to others and to see them flourish in their stitching own journey.

Naomi Small

Creating unique pieces using fabric, threads and wool brings me joy and fills my soul with good vibes.

I recently made my debut as a designer in Inspirations magazine and am currently the Kit Manager at Inspirations Studios as well as my role as a tutor at The Bobbin Tree.

I am blessed with 3 beautiful children and even have my first grandchild.

Taetia McEwen

My childhood was filled with beautiful books and a rambling garden that inspired my passion for all things feminine and pretty.

With an innate need to embellish practical things, the tactile art of embroidery has provided the perfect medium for me to create delightful scenes filled with creatures, flowers, butterflies, and birds – and all with just a touch of whimsy that I’ve become so well known for!

From beginners to experienced stitchers, I have been sharing the joy and pleasure in creating stitched treasures and heirlooms for many years. My tuition style provides individual, practical, hands-on instruction to help you master techniques and spark your creativity.
